Belly Dance Maternity expands to Menswear

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

belly danceHP Daily Blog correspondent EB reports on Belly Dance’s brand extension:

“They were just sitting there, so we decided it as time to sell them something.”  That’s how Belly Dance’s store manager described the idea of what to do with husbands of expecting mothers.  “While the mom is shopping for maternity wear, the dads are bored to the bejeus.  It’s perfectly understandable.  I would be too.”

To tap this untapped resource, Belly Dance had its designers retrofit some looks for the tummy toting pops.  “To be honest, there’s not a huge difference between a pregnant mom and a pot-belly dad.”  With fabrics that are beyond comfortable and for the most part unisex, Belly Dance has designed a line of men’s leisure wear.  “If you’re lounging or watching a ball game, you may as well be comfortable. That’s what we’re selling men: Comfort.”

From flannels to fleece, stop in to Belly Dance and check out their new arrivals today.

West Marine – Yachts to goggles – right here in HP

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

It’s easy to forget that HP is a beach town…if you need some reminding, check out none other than West Marine located in Cross Roads. West marine is a store that will have you dreaming big dreams.  It’s hard to believe that someone makes a pair of nautical binoculars that costs $6,000…it’s also hard to imagine that this is the store that sells them.  Even if you’re not the boating type, it’s somewhat fascinating to check out the latest and greatest gadgets and nautical accoutrements.  Things have progressed mightily since you captained that sunfish back in summer camp…

Tight on Time? Want a Great Meal? Try Tamales…

Tamales' Can't Miss Skirt Steak

Tamales' Can't Miss Skirt Steak

Your ’shoot ‘em up’ at the Renaissance Theater starts in less than 45 minutes—and you haven’t eaten a thing…what to do?

Well that’s the exact scenario that HP Daily Blog correspondent EB faced…and his solution? Tamales on Central Avenue:

“Not a problem.”  That’s what the server told us when we mentioned that our movie was starting in 45 minutes. And sure enough, it wasn’t a problem.  But better than simply making the movie was dinner.  Tamales simply delivers when it comes to delicious Mexican fare.  We ordered the steak which has to rank as one of the best entrees in the City.  It comes with mango salad, salad, broccoli and potatoes.  It’s really a destination meal.

The chicken fajita rounded out the entree.  Along with guacomole, margaritas and the bread pudding dessert – with extra caramel – we were in and out in less than 40 un-rushed minutes…and of course we grabbed some delicous Hot Tamale candies on the way out the door.

We made it to the movie with time to spare, having eaten a delicious meal…
