Botanic Garden Kid Program: Art from Flowers

botanic garden logoKids 4-10 years old will basically dissect a plant and flower and use the proceeds for art projects.  Something like that…Basically CBG is teaching about how seeds and plants and flowers work…you know, nature…so if nature is something that you think is important, and you think kids should know about it, than this sounds like a great opportunity.  Otherwise, there’s plenty of learning in Tennessee Tuxedo and Woody Woodpecker too.

Botanic Garden: Where Does Chocolate Come From?

Better yet, kids will take home chocolate mint and chocolate pepper plants.  Who knew there was a Frango Mint plant?!?!?!

Botanic Garden: Pizza Gardens for Kids

botanic garden logoPizza has lots of ingredients from the garden — wheat, herbs, tomatoes – and pepperoni(?).  Kids from 4-10 years old (and their parents) will learn to mix and knead pizza dough, and plant a special Italian herb garden.

How Do Worms Live? Botanic Garden Teaches Kids

botanic garden logoFor kids 4-10 years old who love to get dirty (i.e. everyone) – the Chicago Botanic Garden (CBG) teaches Worm Worlds: a weekend class that teaches how worms turn garbage into compost.Kids will explore different types of worms and their habitats, create a worm compost bin, and learn to use compost to feed plants. To the delight of all parents, all participating children take home a compost bin with live worms.January 9th – From 9:30am-11:00am OR from 1-2:30pm
